About

Hello ! I am JP Roemer, a French Cloud Architect exploring the mysteries of 3D printing, electronic engineering and self-hosting a personal cloud at home.

I created this blog to share my experiments in building custom IoT devices and setting up a small homelab while creating the resources I wish I had during them.

There is a lot of missing documentation for people trying to build their own PCB and IoT devices: pinouts for some sensors are kept deep inside datasheets and most tutorial available online are focusing on breakout boards that already contains control circuits. When creating custom devices, you might need to create those control circuits yourself and having a proper pinout is always welcomed. My goal here is to fill those gaps by sharing my research, sketch and experiment.

Self-hosting your own cloud is also not that simple, and I’ve found that reading about the different setup people have made in the community helped me greatly while building my own. I feel like it is my turn to share what I have done and my plan to evolve it in order to help others.

I am also a big supporter of the open-source movement, thus why this blog is licensed under the CC BY-NC-SA and built using open-source software.

Finally, I believe that privacy should be a fundamental right, this is why this blog can be run without JavaScript, does not track you, and does not store any information in your browser. You can read more about what it here.

If you wish to learn more about what I am doing, you can follow me on Twitter and checkout my projects on GitHub. You can also contact me if you have any question or want to discuss anything posted on this blog.
